After many months of hard work, the proposed North Michigan Avenue Special Service Area (“SSA”) is moving forward through the legislative process. At the direction of Alderman Reilly and Alderman Hopkins, and with the input of our many stakeholders, we have developed a budget and workplan to address the most pressing issues facing Michigan Avenue. Our ordinance package will be heard at a meeting of the Committee on Economic, Capital, and Technology Development in early December and a public hearing will be held after that committee meeting.

The next step prior to the committee hearing is a meeting with the affected property owners to review the proposed SSA's boundaries, budget, and programs. The meeting will be held on November 29, 2021, at 3pm, via Zoom. The meeting link is below.

The proposed SSA will have a three-year term, exclude residential properties, and focus predominantly on safety and security. The total budget of the proposed SSA is $742,033 in the first year. The 9-member Commission overseeing the SSA will be completely composed of property owners, business owners, or their agents. If you would like to be a Commissioner, please let us know.
