Over the past year, Alderman Reilly received complaints from residents regarding damaged infrastructure at the Plaza. Alderman Reilly is very pleased to announce that much needed repairs to the infrastructure in and around Jane M. Byrne Plaza were recently completed.

Over the course of the last several months, the Department of Water Management (DWM) who is responsible for the plaza took the following steps to address residential concerns: 
  • Replacement and repair of damaged sidewalks in and around the plaza, including sanding down uneven tiles within the park
  • Replacement of decorative lamp post bases
  • Repair of decorative stone curbs which surround the planter beds
  • Repainting of fencing along the stone curbs
  • Repainting of seating areas within the Plaza
  • Replacement of sewer and catch basins on Pearson Street
  • Irrigation and foundation plumbing repaired
  • New mulch and trees in the planter beds
Additionally, improvements were made to the Water Tower itself including: 
  • Replacement of uppermost windows 
  • Repair of stairs leading to the Water Tower 
  • Repair of mounted light fixtures
