Navy Pier Flyover Re-Opened
Earlier this week, upon completion of work to connect the first and second segments, the Chicago Department of Transportation re-opened the Navy Pier Flyover.
The Flyover now extends from Ohio Beach and crosses over Grand and Illinois Streets as well as Ogden Slip and DuSable Park. It also now connects to the sidewalk on the lower level of Lake Shore Drive just north of the north Bridgehouse.
Work continues on the second and third segments, which includes retrofitting the existing LSD Bridge and a cantilever structure on the east side of the span that will allow for widening the trail to eliminate the existing bottlenecks users encounter. The project also involves structural and mechanical repairs to the movable bascule bridge.
