Viceroy Hotel to Open in September
Already a bold architectural addition to the Gold Coast’s so-called ‘Viagra Triangle,’ Chicago’s new Viceroy Hotel is only a few weeks away from opening its doors to the public. Located at 1118 N. State, the boutique hospitality offering consists of a glassy 18-story tower designed by Goettsch Partners and the reassembled brick and terracotta facade of the 1920’s era Cedar Hotel building that previously stood at the site.
For its 180-room Windy City establishment, the Viceroy Hotel Group—a global brand with 14 locations worldwide—has collaborated with local developer Convexity Properties and Chicago’s Boka Restaurant Group. The latter is behind both of the hotel’s food and beverage offerings which include a ground floor restaurant known as Somerset and an indoor/outdoor rooftop pool bar featuring Lake Michigan views and “Playboy Club-inspired” cocktails, reports Eater Chicago.
The Viceroy’s interior design comes from Todd-Avery Lenahan of TAL Studio and will feature 3,600 square feet of meeting and event space and a glamorous lobby adorned with white marble, brassy light fixtures, and a 30-foot art wall inscribed with quotes from poet Marcel Proust. The hotel is currently accepting guest reservations on its website for a “soft open” scheduled for September 1st.
