Susan Ellefson and The Peninsula win Hephzibah Children’s Association Heart of the Home Award
On Saturday, March 3rd, PR Director Susan Ellefson and The Peninsula Chicago were honored by long time charity partner, Hephzibah Children’s Association, as the recipient of their “Heart of the Home Award.” Each year, the Hephzibah team recognizes one recipient who has provided outstanding service and commitment to the Association. The award honors a person or group of volunteers for supporting their mission through a particular project or program. As a longtime partner of Hephzibah, The Peninsula Chicago is humbled to be recognized with this award.
The Peninsula Chicago is proud to have supported Hephzibah Children’s Association through many initiatives for more than 10 years. Visits to the home with Peter Bear over Halloween and Easter, donating proceeds from the annual Sky Rink, welcoming the children to the hotel for skating and tea during the holidays and donating necessities such as food, equipment, and school supplies are just a few of the ways The Peninsula shows support to this worthwhile organization. The Peninsula has raised nearly $60,000 over the past 6 years in Sky Rink donations alone.
Hephzibah Children’s Association’s mission is to help children thrive and families flourish through innovative, community-based programs. Their programming, which includes group homes for neglected children, comprehensive services for families in crisis, foster care and adoption, is aimed at enhancing the safety and well-being of children while preserving the dignity of parents and families. This year, the Heart of Gold Gala raised over $270,000 which will go directly to fulfilling Hephzibah’s mission of helping children and families in need.
